40-foot container of medical supplies arrives at St. Albert’s

The 40-foot container of medical supplies sent by BHA and BHA board member Dr. Lowell Schnipper has arrived at St. Albert’s. The shipment was assembled by SOS of Louisville, Kentucky. It left SOS on October 24, 2022 and arrived at the hospital on January 18, 2023.

The container also included supplies for Karanda Mission Hospital.

Funding for the container came from donors to BHA in support Dr. Lowell Schnipper’s work in Zimbabwe, and general donors to BHA.

Examples of the equipment sent include an anesthesia machine, autoclave, centrifuge, colposcope, oxygen concentrator, refrigerator, four defibrillators, three washing machines and a dryer, 30 pairs of crutches, blood pressure machines and a ventilator.

The wide assortment of supplies included drapes and dressings; laboratory supplies; anesthesia supplies, personal protective equipment; orthopedic, urology and incontinence supplies; syringes; and items such as forceps, surgical needles and suture.
